Nina Michelle Biography
Nina Michelle is a Canadian vocalist, currently living in Munich, Germany. She began her classical piano studies at the age of 5. Upon receiving a scholarship Nina went on to study music and voice in her native Vancouver which she left when she was offered a record contract in Europe.
Since 1994 Nina has been touring Europe with some of the finest musicians. When at home in Vancouver, she regularly performed with Linton Garner at Rossinis jazz club. Her many tours to Switzerland included association with drummer Charly Antolini and his Jazz Power.
Nina has performed with several big bands, including SWR Big Band in charge of Max Greger, featuring among other solo artists Benny Bailey and Hugo Strasser. She has performed at many jazz festivals in Europe, among them Jazz an der Donau, Regensburg Jazz Festival, Stuttgart Jazz Tage, Shake the Lake Festival, Wangen im Allgäu Landes Jazz Festival, Lenker Jazz Tage, Hessen Jazz, etc.
In 1998 Nina recorded a soundtrack with the Billy Gorldt Orchestra as well as acted in a Süddeutsche-Rundfunk film production directed by Oliver Storz, "Against the End of the Night". Recently she has recorded and acted for ZDF TV Productions.
Nina has recorded several CDs with her own Trio featuring Rocky Knauer, a Canadian bassist. She has also made recordings with Max Greger Jr, Charly Antolini, Bayerischer Rundfunk, and did a production for ORF with an Austrian Band "The Stoarieglers" dedicated to the works of Robert Stolz.
At the moment, Nina is getting ready to record her 2nd CD with the "Jazz Ladies" while she´s touring with her own quartet, an international group of well-acclaimed musicians.
Nina Michelle Biographie
Nina Michelle kommt aus Vancouver, Kanada. Sie begann ihre musikalische Ausbildung im Alter von fünf Jahren, später studierte sie klassisches Klavier und absolvierte eine Gesangsausbildung an der Capillano College in Vancouver. Mit 18 Jahren begann sie ihre Karriere als Jazz-Sängerin.
1994 kam Nina zu einigen Gastauftritten nach Europa. Die Jazz-Scene fand sie hier so interessant, daß sie blieb und heute in München wohnt. Neben ihren Gastspielen und Tourneen im Ausland (Vancouver, Montreal, New Orleans, London, Luxembourg, Wien, Prague, Nizza, Hamburg, Zürich, etc.) - ist sie auch immer wieder in der bayerischen Landeshauptstadt zu hören, etwa im Jazzbar Vogler, Bayerischer Hof oder Unterfahrt.
Dazu gab Sie Gastspiele bei einer Reihe renomierter Festivals; wie z.B. beim Jazz an der Donau Festival, Regensburg Jazz Festival, Shake the Lake Festival, Wangen im Allgäu Landes Jazz Festival, Lenker Jazz Tage, Hessen Jazz, etc.
Nina Michelle arbeitet mit verschiedenen bekannten Musikern und Bands wie Max Greger & SWR Big Band, Rob Pronk Big Band, Munich Swing Orchestra, unter anderen. Seit Januar 2010 ist Nina Michelle feste Mitglied eine neue Internationale Frauenbands "Charly Antolini meets the Jazz Ladies".
Zu sehen war Nina auch in Fernsehfeatures des Bayerischen Rundfunks, t.v. münchen, sowie einem Fernsehspiel des Süddeutchen Rundfunks "Gegen die Ende der Nacht" und in der ZDF-Produktion "Sturm der Liebe".
